What is a Backflow Device..why is one needed???? Water is normally maintained at a significant pressure to allow the water to flow from the tap, shower, etc...When pressure fails or is reduced due to a broken water main, frozen pipes or even an unexpected high demand on the water system, the pressure in the pipe may be reduced and may allow contaminated water from the ground, from storage or from other systems to be drawn into the system. To prevent such an occurrence, there should be an air gap or a mechanical 'backflow prevention assembly' between the water delivery point and local storage or use.
Examples: Lawn sprinkler systems: sudden decrease in pressures causing the water to flow in the opposite direction, taking with it, chemicals used on the lawn, which will end up in the potable water. Example: A hose left in a pool/hot tub, decrease in water pressure causes the hose to siphon the chemically treated water into the potable water.
There are many different sizes and styles of Backflow Devices. Generally, your local Water Municipality, if they have a Backflow Program in place, will suggest which device fits your needs. But, we can help with that too!
We pride ourselves in being thorough. Test forms are mailed out within 24 hours of completion. We are happy to submit the test results to the local Water Municipality and Health Department, leaving time for you to focus on your business. We take the time to give a reminder call to have your annual test done....you'll receive a call from Barry himself! Neatness counts!!! Testing involves water...repairs can be messy, but, care is given to your location. K/W does it's best to make sure your business suffers no unnecessary disruptions and will work around your business hours as best as we can. Homeowners, your time at home is valuable and rest assured, we do our best to be at your home when scheduled. We do value your business and we are only a phone call away. We are a full service business...testing, REPAIRING, inspecting and consulting. If your device fails during the test, we won't walk away and tell you to call someone else, we WILL repair it either on the spot or within a reasonable time.
